Her
HER (hia )هي it is an experimental visual series exploring my connections to my cultural identity And linguistics in a new cultural space differ from mine. As an artist living in the West, I became aware of another space that I live in all independence and mobility. From this space, I think about the landscape of my life in Tunisia and my understanding of my identity as a woman. Upset the photographic gaze by collage and calligraphic writing. I try to go beyond stereotypes and transmit my own experience as Arab woman in West. Sharing the same cultural background as my model, I had the inspiration to channel my vision of the complexity of Arabic female identity as I knew it. I use Arabic calligraphic writing, a sacred Islamic art, usually inaccessible to women, to imitate body language and in particular by repeating the word "hia", which is the Arab translation for "Elle", I emphasize the sensitivity of female expression. With these multilayer visuals, I create a world where the field of possibilities of presence feminine continues to grow. Through this world, I invite spectators to resist prejudice and to see two cultures that have shaped my gaze without borders of space, medium or inspiration that would deform When they would be looked at, through only a perspective or the other.
